The designers guide
to going scissorless.
4 easy steps.
How to install the perforated rug pad.

Save up to 20 minutes of installation time per rug.

Position your rug pad.
Unbox and unfurl your rug pad, pulling it into the position you plan to lay your rug in the room.

Corner your rug.
Locate the corner of the pad that is not perforated. Lay the rug corner over this pad corner, overlapping the rug 1” beyond the pad in both the width and the length. Unroll or unfold your rug from this corner.

Fit check.
If your rug covers your pad with a 1” overlay in each dimension, you’re done!
If the rug pad is showing (as in the illustration), locate the two 1” perforated tear strips on the side(s) where the pad is exposed and move on to step 4.

Trim your pad — simply grip and rip.
Step on the edge of the rug to keep the rug and pad in place, placing your heel closest to the corner, grab the perforated tear strip at the label and firmly pull up and away while walking forward. You’ll get a straight, clean edge.
If needed, repeat grip and rip with the second perforated tear strip.

Perfect fit.
This is the moment of truth: your rug now overlays your rug pad by 1” in each dimension. Wasn’t that a cinch?

Best practices for how to measure your rug.
Regardless of what the manufacturer’s label on your rug says, we recommend measuring the rug. Period. Seriously, we’ve seen labels “off” by as much as two inches in length, width or both. A good old fashioned measuring tape will do the trick.
PRO-TIP Fringe is never included in the measurement of a rug. If you had this question, it’s a great one—glad you knew to ask.
Don't have a measuring tape?
These free apps are perfect if you don’t have a measuring tape, but you do have your phone. Capture the dimensions in the app—you can even screenshot it for reference—and enter the exact measurements at checkout.

Is your rug being delivered on location before you see it?
No problem, our tear strips are your insurance policy. We perforate two adjacent edges of the pad with two 1-inch strips. That means you have a full 4” of tolerance in each dimension to achieve a perfect fit. If the pad is a bit too large for your rug, simply pull the perf—no scissors required. And if it’s still not enough, pull the second perf.
